Whether your child has just been given a diagnosis or you are unsure about the school system or what to do once school finishes, Linette can assist you in understanding where you are and how to move forward.
Having your baby, toddler or child diagnosed with a disability can be daunting and for some unexpected. What does it mean and what happens next? Linette not only supports the child with a disability but also the parent/parents/carer.
As a special education teacher, Linette always used a holistic approach and not only supported the child (her students) but also the family. If a family can work well together then a child has a great advantage in all areas of learning and development.
School can be a nightmare for some children and finding the right school for your child can be daunting. Some families may have a choice of schools and for others there is the local school.
Knowing how to "speak school language" to ensure your child receives the best educational outcome while also feeling confident, happy and secure in going to school is an area Linette has a lot of experience in.
Parents and/or carers need to be the "squeaky wheel" in advocating for their child and making sure that the school experience is as positive as possible.
At the end of your child's school life, there is the question - What Next?
Many schools are doing a great job in supporting the student with a disability in transitioning from school to the outside world but some families still require further support.
If you would like further information on how Linette can support and empower you, the parent and/or carer then get in touch and it will be Linette's pleasure to assist you.
