Supporting You through the NDIS Process

The NDIS - National Disability Insurance Scheme is a new way of providing disability support.

To see if you or a loved one are eligible there are three criteria you must first meet, these are:

1. Age - you must be under 65 years of age.

2. Residency - You live in Australia and are an Australian citizen, or have the required paperwork that states you have permission to live in Australia permanently.

3.Disability - Your disability is likely to be with you for life. Your disability substantially impacts your ability to manage everyday tasks and activities.

If you say yes to all three then you can begin the process of applying for the NDIS.

Speak to your G.P. or contact the NDIS through their website www.ndis.gov.au

Once you are an NDIS participant the next step will be to have a plan meeting to discuss your goals and what supports you hope to receive in your NDIS package.

Having the first meeting can sometimes be tricky, as like anything you start for the first time, many are not sure where to begin or what to ask for.

Here at Uniquely Abled, we are happy to support and assist you in preparing for your plan meeting. With some of our NDIS participants, we have supported them by going to the NDIS plan meeting with them to ensure that they have a successful meeting and have a plan to meet their needs.

Once all of the above has been done, then the fun begins in finding the right service providers for you.
